Old man seriously injured in leopard attack

Nagercoil, Mar 2: A 70-year-old man was seriously injured when a leopard attacked him in his farm at Thuckalay near here today, police said.

Three persons, who rushed to his aid, were also injured when they were attacked by the animal. All of them have been hospitalised, police said.

Members of the public chased the five-year-old leopard and beat it to death with sticks.

Forest officials, who were informed, rushed to the spot and took possession of the carcass of the animal.

Later, speaking to reporters, they said the animal might have wandered into the farm from the Kalakad Mudanthurai Forest in Kanyakumari district in search of water.
