Dogs attacked by bobcat in Nevada

James Steiner
Washoe County

A series of attacks, by a bobcat, has neighbors in the Red Rock area locking up their pets.

Residents say three dogs were mauled, last night, in the 82-hundred block of Big River Drive.

Owners of a miniature pinscher say their dog was mauled while in the dog house of their backyard.

Ace was later put to sleep after suffering life-threatening injuries.

Owners say they were able to keep the bobcat in the yard by offering it meat, until animal control officers caught the wild animal with two catch poles.

Washoe County has a dangerous dog ordinance but nothing dealing with bobcats.
Officials say the only thing the owner could be cited for is failure to restrain an exotic animal.
