SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. -- A mountain lion shot in Scottsbluff Monday morning was a young male, about a year and a half old that weighed about 85 pounds.

Game and Parks Wildlife Manager Todd Nordeen said a necropsy will be conducted on the animal to see if it had been injured or was suffering from disease.

The animal was first spotted just north of Webber's Furniture by employees with the store, which is a couple blocks away from Scottsbluff High School.

Webber's employee Johnny Hernandez said he and another employee got a good look at the cougar.

Hernandez said he thought it was a joke when one of the workers said they saw a cougar.
