JAMMU: A boy was killed and four others injured in two separate leopard attacks in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ashok Raj, 14, was attacked by a leopard in the compound of his house in Kote village of Doda district last night, officials said. The boy's family raised an alarm and the villagers assembled after which the animal escaped.
Ashok suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Doda, where he died, they said.
Also, a leopard attacked four villagers in Trigam forest area of Kishtwar district early on Wednesday, officials said.
The men fought with the animal for about half-an-hour before the animal escaped.
The four- identified as Shabir, Qadir, Noor Hussain and Abdu Majid- were injured in the attack and have been hospitalised.
A dog and some sheep were also killed in leopard attack in Tangdoog village in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district on Tuesday night.
