Leopard attacks two Indian villagers

Badwani, Apr 8: In an incident at Goyada village in the district a leopard attacked and injured two villagers. Later it fell into a well.

According to information, today in the morning two villagers of Goyada village, Kanjaria (20) and Kev Singh (25) received injuries when a leopard attacked them and later it fell into a well.

The residents of Devbedi said that there were 2 leopards but only one dead body of the animal was available in the well.

Police and forest department employees also reached the spot. A large number of villagers were seen near the well. The leopard was not coming out due to noise of the villagers.v SDO, Bhargava of forest department Sendhava told on telephone that the villagers were talking about two leopards. There was only one leopard in the well which is 20-25 feet deep.

Bhargava said on phone that a cot and an iron ladder had been placed in the well to help leopard through which it may come out. The official drive away the mob from the well.

Laxman Senani said that this is the first incident of the area.

Veterinary doctor OP Dubey said that leopard was looking healthy inside the well and as it was fell into the well it may have received injuries. If it remains in water for 24 hours, its legs may get affected.

Dr Devendra Porwal of Indore sanctuary advised to use ladder in rescuing the animal. 20070409/0904101.htm
