India: Forest officials capture leopard

7 Jun, 2007 - 0535 hrs ISTlTIMES NEWS NETWORK

SURAT: The forest officials finally succeeded in nabbing a leopard from Samba village on Wednesday. Officials informed that a female leopard was found inside a trap near the village.

However, senior forest officials admitted that it is not necessary that the animal which is captured is the same which attacked the boy on May 25. For the same reasons, several tests will be conducted to ascertain the identity of two leopards.

Initially the forest officials had claimed that it was an adult male leopard which killed the boy. The leopard they capture on Wednesday however is a female leopard.

Though we are successful in capturing a leopard we would like to ascertain whether the one which killed the boy in Samba is the same or not.
