Young boy killed by wild leopard in India

Jammu, June 05 (NAK): A five year old boy died after he was attacked and critically injured by a leopard in Nayi Dangri village of Bhaderwah this morning.

The same leopard have already killed dozens of animals in the area and injured several others.

Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that a five year old boy was attacked by leopard out side his home in Nayi Dangri Bhaderwah and injured him critically. The boy was immediately shifted to District Hospital Doda where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

He has been identified as Sahil Kumar son of Krishan Kumar of Nayi Dangri Bhaderwah.

People of the area stage protest demonstration and demands catch or kill orders for the killer leopard.

“The family members of the victim should be given compensation of rupees one lakh as was given in some cases in Kashmir” said a villager adding that dozens of animals in the area have also fell pray to the killer beasts during last one month.

For past some time animal human conflict in Jammu and Kashmir is on increase which has witnessed number of people most of them minors, being killed by wild animals and vice versa.

The increasing human interference in the animal domains in the back drop of cutting of forests and expansion of human habitation is being considered by the experts as the main reason behind this conflict.

The stray wild animals, striking at human habitations and killing people has already provoked great discontent among the masses in entire Jammu and Kashmir.

Dozens of such cases were reported from parts of Jammu including Sunderbani (Rajouri), Bani, Akhnoor and Anantnag, Bandipora, Kupwara and Baramulla areas of Kashmir.(NAK)
