23 mountain lions killed in South Dakota

Mountain lion season closer to end

The Black Hills mountain lion season is within three of its limit on females. The 12th female was shot early last week in Meade County.That brought the season's total to 23 since lion hunting began Jan. 1. It weighed 80 pounds.

The season, scheduled to end March 31, will close early when 35 lions or when 15 females have been killed.

Six lions have been killed in Lawrence County, four in Custer County, three in Meade County and one in Fall River County, and nine in Pennington County.
