BOULDER, Colo. — A mother mountain lion was captured overnight Wednesday and reunited with her kitten, which was caught a day earlier while stuck in a tree in Boulder’s Newlands neighborhood.

Jennifer Churchill, spokeswoman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, said the 10-year-old mother cat was trapped near Wonderland Lake overnight. Wildlife officers were searching for the female cougar after its kitten was found stuck in a tree Wednesday.

The cats were reunited and released far away from the residential area, Churchill said.

Wildlife officers put a tracking collar on the adult cat as part of a mountain-lion study.

“They’re both in good shape,” Churchill said. “I’m glad we could move them together.”
