NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch arrested two persons and seized five leopard skins from them on Wednesday. One of the accused hails from Nahan, Himachal Pradesh while the other is from Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. They had come to the city to sell the animal skins, hoping to earn Rs 80,000-Rs 1 lakh for each of them.

They revealed that all the five leopards had been trapped and killed in the forests of Himachal Pradesh by their associate, known only as Bengali. The arrested persons have been identified as Moinuddin (50) and Ajay Sharma (52)

Sharma was running a makeshift ayurvedic medicine shop. He worked as Moinuddin's frontman and helped him look for prospective buyers for the skins. Both the accused were apprehended from the Alipur area in Delhi. A case under Wildlife Protection Act was registered against them and efforts to trace Bengali are on.
