Jambi (ANTARA News) - The Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) caught a Sumatra tiger (panthera tigris sumatrae) after the wild animal took the bait -- a live goat -- put in an iron trap placed in a forest of Sungai Gelam hamlet, Kumpeh Ilir subdistrict, Muarojambi regency Tuesday night (Feb 10).

The tiger believed to have killed three villagers was lured into the trap set in the border with land of PT Muarojambi Kahuripan Indonesia (MKI), and found by a worker on Wednesday at 8.30 a.m local time, Head of the Jambi BKSDA team Nur Azman said.

The tiger was caught after lured into the first trap set a week ago, and virtually nothing was left of the goat eaten by the female wild animal.

For the time being, the tiger is now kept in a cage at the Jambi office, pending a decision where to send it.

Actually two iron traps were set in different spots by the Jambi BKSDA personnel.

"The destination of the tiger would still have to be discussed with the regional administration," Nur Azman said, adding that the tiger may be released into its habitat, but deeper into the forest.
