From 16 June, Gujarat’s Gir Asiatic Lion sanctuary will be closed for visitors. The sanctuary will reopen for visitors on 15 October.

Every year during monsoon, which is a matting period for lions, the sanctuary remains closed to create undisturbed environment for lions as per the 1972 wild life act. Also due to rains, Unpaved roads inside the forest no more remain motorable.
