Mountain lion captured in Utah neighborhood

Mountain Lion Captured in Eagle Mountain Neighborhood

Last Update: 6/13 9:55

There are Cougar fans in Eagle Mountain. Fans of the BYU Cougars, but tonight residents have a story to tell about a real mountain lion that ran free through their neighborhood.

10 year old Isabelle Butcher saw the cougar run down her street and jump at a window, then fall down into a basement window well.

Isabelle at first thought the cougar was a big dog, but as she walked closer she noticed it was a big cat. She ran inside and got her dad, who went to check it out.
Steve Butcher took photos of the cougar, while neighbors called 911.

Officers from the Department of Wildlife Resources responded and as they neared the window well, the cat lept out and darted back up the street.

DWR eventually got close enough to tranquilize the cat and take it out of the residential area.
