Tiger on prowl causes panic in Kerala village

Tiger on prowl causes panic in Kerala village

Kochi, Aug 5 (PTI) A tiger that is on the prowl for nearly two weeks has spread panic in Kalady village even as efforts by the Forest department to trap it have so far turned futile.

The tiger, which strayed into the village, about 40 km from here, from nearby forest area, had killed several domestic animals of the villagers.

According to the sources, K R Sekharan-led tiger monitoring and health monitoring teams from Thekkady had inspected the pug marks and excreta of the wild cat and said that the animal could most probably be a tiger.

To widen the dragnet, the Forest department had asked its counterpart in Wayanad district for more traps, they said, adding the Forest Range Officer had asked people to be cautious during nights.
