New Brunswickers interested in trapping bobcats have until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, to enter the draw for bobcat tags.
Application cards and fact sheets are available at all Service New Brunswick and Department of Natural Resources offices. Information is also available online.
Applicants must buy a 2009-10 fur harvester's licence before entering the draw for bobcat tags. Wildlife management zones 1 through 6, 9, 26 and 27 do not have tags available for bobcats.
The computerized draw will take place in late October, and successful applicants will be notified by mail.
The bobcat tag quota system is designed for conservation; for helping New Brunswick meet international management obligations; and for providing an opportunity to New Brunswickers to harvest the surplus of bobcats that would normally die from starvation and vehicle collisions.
