Panther killed in Collier County
September 7, 2009
A 2-year-old female Florida panther was struck and killed by a vehicle this morning about three miles east of the toll booth on I-75 in Collier County.
According to Darrell Land of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a Florida Highway Patrol officer found the dead cat while on routine patrol. The panther did not have a cowlick, kinked tail or transponder.
This was the 13th panther killed in South Florida this year, the ninth by a vehicle, according to Land.
